Children's fun climbing parties!
You can now choose two VERY different parties for children. You can either Climb or Cave and Boulder!
At Guildford we have our ever popular top rope climbing parties but now you can also book into our NEW centre in Sutton where we have a fantastic indoor caving system in a special room designed for a taste of what it is like to go underground and climb specially designed boulder routes.
Guildford
Climb 30 feet up! Climbing parties at Craggy Island are very popular, we have slots for parties all weekends and often weekdays too. Our instructors will make sure everyone has a great time and will let everyone climb to their ability. Everyone will get to climb our walls under strict supervision, and will also have a chance to use our traverse and children's bouldering wall.
When the party starts our instructor will take your children into the climbing arena. If you would like to view the climbing as well please ask one of our staff for entry to be able to take photos as this is limited to two parents at a time. After the climbing session our instructors will bring the children back to our cafe area.
The are a maximum of six children to each of our trained instructors and in rotation two can climb, two use the automatic 'safe' belay and a two taking in slack rope. Their instructor will be encouraging the climbers and be fully in control of the assent and decent every time. Parents can also take advantage of our cafe and sit down for an hour and a half of peace and quiet and a coffee or tea while we wear out the kids! Splendid!
After
the party why not take advantage of our island cafe and give the hungry
climbers some food and drink? We offer a special party menu but they

Our parties are all pre-booked via our reception by visiting or calling 0844 8808866. All children must be 8 years old or above.
Each party session lasts for one and a half hours and includes instructors and hire equipment apart from climbing shoes which can be hired for £2.50 a pair. Once booked we will send you your party confirmation along with Parental Consent Forms and even Party Invites!
Parties
must be booked in blocks of up to six children as follows;

There is no need for any special equipment or clothes. Loose fitting sporting kit and trainers are all you need and trousers are preferred rather than shorts to avoid grazed knees. Large 'box' sneakers are not ideal to climb in, clean, soft soled, laced trainers are preferred.

Sutton
If
there is one thing children like to do as much as climb, it is explore
a cave. Here at Craggy2 we have created a unique subteranean
experience, a labyrinth of caves, tunnels and chambers complete with
stalactites, fossils, cave paintings and a secret ball pit. The children
will be equipped with a helmet and head torch and then sent into the
dark! But don’t worry, the system has a number of escape exits
and the party will have a supervisor on hand should anyone need to
come out. Outside the caves there is plenty to climb on, some that
is really easy and some that is a proper challenge. Exploration has
never been this much fun!
Every party is supervised by one of our trained staff and they will
try to involve all children to get the most out of the experience. But
this is not a playground, to make sure everyone is safe the children
have to understand their supervisor has the first AND last word.
We have developed a series of caving and climbing games suitable for all ages which your children might like to play, headed up by their supervisor. But this is entirely up to the children - many parties just like the freedom of exploring and playing in the unique environment. We developed these caves for a number of reasons - to let children (and adults!) experience what it feels like to be in a real pothole, but without the inherent danger, mud and water - but also to have fun!
Some children are apprehensive
of dark and confined spaces. This is only natural. However, we find that
after a short while they usually forget their fears and have a great
time. We never force children to do more than they are prepared to do
and use encouragement if needed.
There is a viewing gallery overlooking the room where you can watch your young people and wave occasionally while you sip a coffee. . . or you could walk next door where there is a restaurant and bar in the golf club at Surrey Oaks.
Each
party lasts for one hour and must be pre-booked. We currently only accept
party bookings at weekends. The minimum age is 8 and the maximum 14.
When you book you will have the room to yourselves for the duration of
the party. We recommend arriving around 15 mins before the party starts
to ensure we collect the parental consent forms and give the children
a brief pre-caving safety talk before they enter the tunnels. All
children climbing at Craggy Island must have a completed parental consent
form or they will NOT be permitted to climb. While the tunnels
are smooth and dry you will need to wear loose and comfortable clothes
that you will not mind being crawled about in.

(only £12.50 per child)
£198 for up to 18 children (only £11 per child)
(adults can use the cave system taking the place of one child as long
as they are a parent or guardian of one of the children and are of the
same party)
