Duty Manager @ Guildford

We are currently recruiting Duty Managers to join our team at Guildford.

Role: Duty Managers are involved in all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the climbing centre. The work is varied and includes a range of activities. This position will suit a passionate climber with an outgoing personality, good attention to detail, and a can-do attitude.

Hours: This is a Full-Time position based on 40 hours per week. Hours will include daytime and evening shifts, and alternate weekends.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Opening and closing of the centre.
  • Instructing.
  • Customer service.
  • Floor walking.
  • Reception and admin.
  • Equipment inspections.
  • Managing the instructor team.
  • First-response to first aid and safety incidents.
  • Supporting the Centre Manager.
  • Cleaning and maintenance.

Personal Attributes:

  • Interested in sport & physical activity. Must have experience of indoor climbing.
  • Have a lifestyle that suits creative working hours. This is not a 9 to 5 role.
  • Sociable and friendly personality, able to work well with the rest of the team.
  • Approachable to customers and the wider community.
  • Ability and confidence to nurture and work with vulnerable people and children.
  • Professional and mature attitude.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and stay calm under pressure.
  • Able to bring fun and energy to work every day.
  • Able to multitask, be proactive and take initiative.
  • A good memory and attention to detail.
  • Eager to get stuck in and perform any task to keep the centre running efficiently.
  • Reliable and good at timekeeping.

Role Development:

  • Each member of the team brings their own interests with them and there are opportunities to develop the successful candidate’s role based on their skill-set in areas including; route setting, social sessions, safety and technical knowledge, coaching, social media and marketing, facility maintenance and renovation, digital and visual media, etc.
  • First Aid training is desirable but not essential as first aid and rescue training will be provided.
  • Training will also be provided in higher-level climbing skills.

Pay: £22,250, rising to £22,750 on completion of probationary period.

Instructors @ Guildford

We are always on the lookout for Instructors to work with our groups and sessions at Craggy Guildford.

Role: As an Instructor at Craggy Island, Guildford you are responsible for delivering indoor climbing sessions in a fun, safe and nurturing manner. Session types include Beginner Courses, Birthday Parties, Taster Sessions and Private Tuition. For more experienced instructors, or upon completion of relevant training, there will also be the opportunity to provide Lead Courses and Performance Coaching to customers.

Hours: Working hours for instructors at Craggy Island are flexible. The majority of hours are available during weekends so could suit someone who is currently studying or has another job. Occasional daytime and evening work is also available to meet the demands of our booked sessions.

Requirements: Applicants must be aged 18 years or over at the time of application. All applicants must have some personal climbing experience. Some instructing experience is desirable but not essential; training will be provided to all successful applicants at whatever level is appropriate.

Pay: £9.50 + per hour, dependent on age and experience.

Instructors @ Sutton

We are always on the lookout for Instructors to work with our groups and sessions at Craggy Sutton.

Role: As an Instructor at Craggy Island, Sutton you are responsible for delivering indoor bouldering sessions in a fun, safe and nurturing manner. Session types include Intros, Kids Clubs, Birthday Parties, Taster Sessions and Private Tuition – working with both adults and children. For more experienced instructors, or upon completion of relevant training, there will also be the opportunity to provide Performance Coaching to customers.

Hours: Working hours for instructors at Craggy Island are flexible. The majority of hours are available during weekends so could suit someone who is currently studying or has another job. Occasional daytime and weekday evening work is also available to meet the demands of our booked sessions.

Requirements: Applicants must be aged 18 years or over at the time of application. All applicants must have some personal climbing/bouldering experience. Some instructing experience is desirable but not essential; training will be provided to all successful applicants at whatever level is appropriate.

Pay: Dependent on age and experience.
